Law Firm Trust Accounting Clerk — #5166

Our client is seeking a full-time, permanent Trust Accounting Clerk to join their supportive and positive work environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a great team while continuing to develop your accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of trust cheques and deposits
  • Maintain investment accounts with all major banks
  • Handle real estate closings and payouts
  • Prepare and post wire payments, EFTs and transfers
  • Complete monthly trust bank reconciliations
  • Track and report quarterly TAF remittances
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper records
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and control procedures
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives
  • Perform additional accounting functions as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or equivalent work experience with basic accounting procedures
  • 1+ years of accounting experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • Understanding of trust accounting processes and provincial law society rules and compliance requirements
  • Experience with Soluno is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Detail-oriented, methodical and highly organized, with fast and accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, operate independently and meet objectives with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn, embrace change and take on additional responsibilities over time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
