If you have an insurance defence background, this is an opportunity to continue using that valuable experience while expanding your skills within a busy and evolving litigation practice.
While the insurance defence landscape has changed in recent years, this is a busy and well-established practice with a strong and consistent workflow. The lawyer is preferred counsel, continues to receive new files, and works with a variety of insurance entities beyond ICBC. The practice also continues to expand into additional areas, providing the successful candidate with long-term stability, varied work, and the opportunity to grow alongside an active and developing practice.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Opening and closing files.
- Organizing and maintaining both paper and electronic files and documents.
- Reviewing incoming correspondence and preparing responses.
- Editing and formatting legal documents under the direction of lawyers and paralegals.
- Managing calendars, including scheduling appointments, trials, examinations for discovery, and experts.
- Assisting with trial preparation.
- Preparing and updating Lists of Documents.
- Providing administrative support throughout the life of a file, from opening through closing.
- Performing other related administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of related legal administrative experience, with insurance defence experience required.
- Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program, or an equivalent higher education qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of court rules and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage a high volume of work while meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Compensation
Salary: $60,000–$75,000, depending on experience.
For an LAA with an insurance defence background who may be wondering where that experience can take them next, this position offers the opportunity to build on that foundation while gaining broader exposure within a stable and expanding litigation practice.
